Hue

Difficulty : 2/5 (Normal)
Global : 2.5/5 (Good)
Hue is a puzzle platformer. Not your typical platformer with very easy puzzles on the way though, this game focuses a lot on the puzzle aspect.
The main mechanic is the color swap, you change the color of the background and everything of the same color disappear.
Puzzles are what you can find in a lot of puzzle platformers : you push buttons, pull boxes, open doors, dodge lasers etc, but it feels completely different when combined with the color swap mechanic. There are also pure platforming sections that are very fun.
The game is neither hard nor easy. Except at most for one or two puzzles, you’ll never be stuck; the color palette slows time when you open it, so the platforming sections are fair.
There are secrets to find, but they are bad and that’s a shame. You’ll have to replay entire areas just because you didn’t have the necessary color when you found a secret. No point doing that except wasting time. The other secrets are hidden inside false walls and that’s not really fun. Mixing them with puzzles would’ve been much better (one secret = one optional part of a puzzle to solve).
As for the story, it’s there to give breaks (with a very nice voice acting) and a purpose. It’s not bad but don’t play the game just for it.
Hue is a good and fun game, give it a try especially if you got it when it was free.
