AssassInvisible

Difficulty : 2/5 (Normal)

Classes can be boring, everyone experienced that in their childhood. History classes especially are what get Camille, a creative middle schooler, bored to death, thus letting her imagination shine in her notebook.
AssassInvisible is the fruit of that deep boredom, a game in which you’re an invisible assassin who needs to supress their target while avoiding the guards.
The game is a unique mix between stealth and puzzles. Your assassin turns invisible after a few moves, allowing you to sneak past the guards and avoid their sight. However, you can’t go invisible as you want. That’s the puzzle part, the levels are compact with a number of elements preventing you from staying/turning invisible, or blocking your path.
It’s up to you to think and find how to get around using various mechanics progressively introduced in each world.
Being invisible means that not only the guards don’t see you, the player also doesn’t and has to memorize and count the steps. Hitting a wall makes you turn visible again so you can’t just move blindly and have to make that effort.
It’s a bit weird at the beginning but you quickly get used to it. Except for one type of guard, the game is also turn-based and has an undo button that brings you where you last were visible, so the game is not punishing and you can take all the time you want.
The puzzles are designed to be on the easy side. The invisibility already adds a layer of complexity, the game would’ve probably been frustrating for too many people if it mostly had hard puzzles. They also wouldn’t fit well with the tone of the game.
That doesn’t mean it’s all a cakewalk though, the game exploits a lot of the mechanics potential and even features some harder secrets.
A story is told in the margins of the notebook, telling the struggles of Camille to really find her place in school. It’s a relatable and touching story, the innocence of Camille also often puts a smile on your face.
You know, there are games that instantly make you feel the pure passion and love their developers put into it. AssassInvisible is one of those.
Every element of this game is carefully crafted, from the unique gameplay to the immersive visuals and sound design. And I don’t think a small game can get better than that.
