Candle Prick

Difficulty : 2/5 (Normal)
Global : 2/5 (Good)

Candle Prick is a sokoban puzzle game in which you need to use spears to reach and prick the candle in each level.

There are only 2 mechanics in the game: spears and enemies. The spears can be attached to your character and to the enemies, which can also be pierced to create groups of bonded enemies that you can move.
This leads to situations that make this game feel like a baby version of Stephen’s Sausage Roll.

Most of the levels are filler. For a sokoban game, Candle Prick is easy and doesn’t need much thinking. There’s sometimes an optional objective in the puzzles, but it only rarely increases the difficulty.
That’s a shame, the game is fun but the lack of real challenge and the low puzzle diversity unfortunately make it pretty forgettable. The mechanics are limited but I’m sure there was much more to do with them.

The visuals are confusing, the visibility isn’t great and some people might have a lot of trouble distinguishing everything.
The optional objectives reward you with various palettes that change the colors of the game, I quickly found a palette that softened the colors and improved my experience… but they can also turn the game into a truly horrible eye-destroying nightmare (you can choose which palette you want at any moment though).

Candle Prick could’ve been your typical very good sokoban game, the mechanics would’ve deserved to be better explored instead of having at least half of the game being a tutorial.
Recommended if you want a mildly challenging sokoban.
