So Fart Away

Difficulty : 2/5 (Normal)
Global : 3/5 (Very Good)

So Fart Away is a humorous sokoban puzzle game. You’re Linguini, a poor fellow that accepted the food-critic job his new boss Cornelius offered him… and quickly regretted it.
Linguini descends from a long line of giant-butted extreme farters affected by an illness called Fartus Fartalis. Spicy food especially becomes a dangerous weapon, as Linguini emits dreadful poisonous clouds of death each time he eats some.
And guess the name of the gastronomic festival he has to cover? La Pimenta. Yeah, that’s rough.

Each puzzle has food scattered around, you need to eat everything for the exit to unlock. The fart pattern is different depending on the type of food you eat, tacos leave a line of maximum 3 clouds behind you while donuts surround you with clouds.
Nothing can stand in your toxic deflagrations : the flowers wither, people die (I have to say, watching people scream and melt in your fart is funny), eating soiled food is out of the question, and, of course, Linguini can’t go through. Fortunately, you can still push those clouds. So you either need to get them out of the way or cleverly use them to make flowers wither, as flowers are used as a way of blocking the path.

The difficulty is balanced, the puzzles are so small and the mechanics so few and basic that you can’t really struggle much on the puzzles (though some of them still get a bit hard).
The puzzle design is high quality. It makes use of the classic thinking you encounter in all the very good sokoban games, with an emphasis on the lack of room. The game even manages to offer a lot of variety despite the mechanics being scarce, which proves their potential was finely exploited.

It’s not the first time I say that, but So Fart Away is exactly what I expect from a sokoban. Aside from a few typos, there’s nothing bad to report.
A gaseous yet very solid game, recommended.
